Sawvy Privacy Policy

Sawvy (“Sawvy,” “we,” “us”) is a woodworking design and build app operated by Forging Tomorrow. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email privacy@forgingtomorrow.com.

Information stored on your device

Your saved builds — including the piece, style, dimensions, wood, cut list, shopping list, build progress, and journal photos — stay on your device. Your owned tools, cart, experience level, onboarding status, and theme also stay there. Sawvy does not upload or sync this working library. Removing the app may remove this local data.

Information transmitted or collected

• AI conversations. When you use “Describe your build” or chat with Sawyer, the text you enter (and the back-and-forth within that session) is sent to our backend and AI provider to interpret your request or answer your question. Please don't enter personal, financial, or otherwise sensitive details. To help decide what to build next, we keep an anonymous copy of the opening question of each Sawyer conversation; it is not attached to a Sawvy account or device identifier.
• Photos you choose to share. If you snap or pick a photo — of a piece you'd like to build, or of your project when asking Sawyer for help — that image is sent to our backend and on to our AI provider to be interpreted, then discarded from our systems; we don't build a library of your photos. The app only accesses photos you explicitly select or capture, never your whole photo library.
• Subscription status. If you subscribe to Sawvy Pro or Premium, Apple processes the payment. We use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to know whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app identifier and your purchase history for this app — not your name, Apple ID, or payment details.
• Shopping interactions. When you tap an affiliate shopping link, that action may be associated with a non-personal tag (identifying the tool, tier, and project) so our affiliate networks can attribute any resulting purchase to Sawvy.
• Crash and performance diagnostics. If Sawvy crashes or hits an error, we receive a diagnostic report — the error itself, the app version, and the device model and OS version. This is used to find and fix bugs, and nothing in it identifies you. Apple also collects its own crash and usage diagnostics under Apple's terms.

We do not collect your precise location or contacts, and we never access photos beyond the ones you explicitly choose to share with the AI features described above.

How we use information

• To provide requested online features while the core project library remains on-device.
• To interpret your typed build descriptions (and shared photos) into a design.
• To answer your woodworking questions in the Sawyer chat, and to learn — from anonymous opening questions — which project types to add next.
• To unlock the features included in your subscription tier, if you subscribe.
• To attribute affiliate purchases so the core app can remain free.
• To maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.

How information is shared

We share information only with the service providers needed to run the app:

• Supabase — hosts Sawvy's public data and edge functions for AI requests, remotely managed content, renders, prices, redirects, security, and abuse prevention. It does not receive your local project library for account sync.
• Anthropic (Claude) — processes your typed build descriptions, Sawyer chat messages, and any photos you choose to share, to generate a design or answer your question. Content is sent for that purpose only and is not used to identify you; it is handled under Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Apple — for app distribution, subscription payments, and crash and usage diagnostics. Your payment is handled entirely by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy.
• Sentry — receives crash and error reports (the error, app version, device model and OS version) so we can find and fix bugs. See Sentry's privacy policy.
• RevenueCat — manages subscription status (a random app identifier and purchase history; no name or payment details). See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
• Retailers and affiliate networks (including Amazon Associates) — when you follow a shopping link. Your activity on their sites is governed by their privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or us.

Subscriptions

Sawvy's core design-to-build features are free. Optional Sawvy Pro and Sawvy Premium subscriptions unlock extras like full plan sets. Subscriptions are auto-renewable, billed by Apple, and can be canceled anytime in your device's Settings → Subscriptions. We never see your payment method; refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

Affiliate links

When you tap a shopping link, you are taken to a third-party retailer, and we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Prices are set by the retailers. We never receive your payment information — your purchase is handled entirely by the retailer under its own terms and privacy policy.

Data retention

On-device data stays until you delete individual builds or remove the app. AI conversations live in the app session — we don't store the chat transcript, and photos are discarded after they're interpreted; text and images sent to our AI provider are retained only as needed to provide the feature, subject to that provider's terms. Anonymous opening questions contain no Sawvy account or device identifier. Subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat under their policies for as long as needed to manage your subscription.

Earlier TestFlight accounts. Some beta versions offered optional email accounts and project sync. The current app no longer signs in or uses those records. If you used that beta feature, email privacy@forgingtomorrow.com to request deletion of the legacy server record.

Your choices and rights

• No account required or offered. Sawvy does not ask for an email, password, or login.
• Delete local builds. Delete individual projects from My builds. Removing Sawvy may remove the remaining local library from that device.
• Legacy beta data. Email us to request access to or deletion of an earlier TestFlight account record, if you created one.
• Cancel a subscription. Anytime, in your device's Settings → Subscriptions. Removing local data or the app does not cancel an Apple subscription.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability) under laws like the GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise them.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and database access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

Children's privacy

Sawvy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Where your information is processed

Sawvy's providers process data in the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be processed there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
